Beginner Guide
First Priorities
Section titled “First Priorities”Start by learning the systems that keep an island livable before overbuilding. The Steam description confirms farming, gadget crafting, energy production, automation, animals, and airship exploration, so these are the systems to understand first.
| Priority | What To Do | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Food | Plant crops and learn the basic harvest loop. See Farming. | Food is described as coming mainly from fruit and vegetables. |
| Power | Place a first energy setup, then plan batteries through Energy and Batteries. | Solar, wind, and water output can vary with weather. |
| Crafting | Keep core crafting stations close to storage and power. | Every later system depends on materials and gadgets. |
| Automation | Automate repeated chores after power is stable. See Automation. | Transport drones and watering automation save time once the base is running. |
| Airship | Prepare an exploration kit before leaving. See Airship Exploration. | Airships are how you reach surrounding islands and find new resources. |
Base Layout
Section titled “Base Layout”Build small at first: crop area, storage, crafting, power, and airship access should be close enough that one loop through base handles all chores.
Decorations and cozy spaces are a real part of Solarpunk, but they are easier to enjoy after the practical routes stop fighting each other.
Good First-Run Habits
Section titled “Good First-Run Habits”- Use Energy System checks before adding machines.
- Keep Food and Crops near water or watering automation.
- Do not send Transport Drones into a power-starved base.
- Before each Airship Trip, empty inventory space and define what resource you are hunting.
